  • What does membership do for me?

The Association represents cemeteries, crematories and suppliers throughout the State of Texas through active participation in the legislative process and working closely with the Department of Banking and the Texas Funeral Service Commission (TFSC) on issues of legislation, consumer protection and oversight of the industry.

During the legislative session, your TCA Legislative Committee gets involved in every bill that can directly affect your business. Through the efforts of the committee and various TCA members, we influence the outcome of the bills through negotiation, compromise and sometime full support. Many members spend time in Austin testifying to the committees, for the support and protection of all Texas cemeteries, crematories and our industry suppliers.

In addition to the legal and legislative matters, the TCA has three great educational programs each year.

TCA Annual Convention  –  in the spring.  The first morning covers the legislative and legal issues surrounding the cemetery business, including presentations from the Department of Banking and the Texas Funeral Service Commission. The afternoon and following morning provides great information on sales and management. We are fortunate to have many supplier members exhibiting at the conference.  It is a great opportunity to visit with our suppliers and see the latest “tools” available, so that we can provide the families we serve with the best available products.  Often, the suppliers sponsor a special dinner or outing, making the convention not only educational and informative, but fun as well.  Details about the convention are mailed after the first of the year.

TCA Maintenance Conference  - held in the fall each year.  This program is aimed at the superintendents, foreman and maintenance staff. The conference includes classroom sessions, tours of local cemeteries, an equipment exhibit and Skills Rodeo.
